When I was at the RV Open House, one thing stuck out to me, and it’s that you don’t find a whole lot of innovation in RVs right now. Aside from projects like the Airstream eStream or small companies like Taxa, it seems that most manufacturers build some variation of a box on wheels with a place to sleep. One of the companies standing out as being different is Happier Camper....

As a general rule, when I write an article I try to make sure it’s informative — that it teaches the average reader something new about cars, even if it’s just something small. But there are times when I just have something weird I want to show you, so that together we can just gawk, possibly drool a little, and then move on with our days. That’s what we have here....

You know how to play, right? Used Car Wholesale Values Dropped Four Percent Last Month It’s fairly early on in a new month, which means it’s time once again to check in on the Manheim Index and see how used car wholesale values are doing....

Well, that looks pretty decisive. The GMC takes it. Must be the two-tone paint; always bet on red and black. Or something like that. I wouldn’t know; I don’t gamble much. And yes, I may have understated the GM 2.8 V6 engine’s shortcomings. I try to keep a positive tone here, in part to counteract the “shitbox” title, but also to remind myself and everyone else what an enormous undertaking it is to bring any car to market....

I mean, look at this picture; the car is squarely in the way of all those sheep, in the middle of some field, no actual road in easy sight. The sheepboy is turning to his friend, and you can almost imagine him calling out “Who the hell’s car is this? What this thing doing here? Crikey, Yahoo Serious, shrimp on barbie” or whatever the hell Aussies say when inconvenienced by a big-ass car....

The story of this trio of opulent RVs starts with Edler & Company Inc of Morton Grove, Illinois. Originally formed in 1938 as Atlas Van Lines, this company specialized in third-party logistics. The company also incorporated Edler Warehousing LLC in 1962, and it continues to operate today under that name and Edler & Company, offering warehousing, inventory management, and distribution. A vintage photo on Edler Warehousing’s site shows that in decades past it offered storage and moving services....

Roam was established in 2017 as Opibus. The company formed out of a Swedish technical university project to figure out how to introduce EV tech to emerging markets. Kenya was chosen as the headquarters of the operation and the resulting motorcycles are designed and engineered right there. Roam was able to raise $7.5 million in equity and grants. Now, it says it’s about ready to put its super cheap motorcycle into production....

You all know me as the rusty Jeep guy from Detroit, but I’m not from here. I have no family here, no childhood roots, and fewer and fewer ties as many of my friends seem to all move away. But I have stayed for nine years — the longest I’ve ever lived in one place. It’s counter to my nature as an “Army Brat,” and indeed, in the early days after my move here from college, I thought for sure I’d be rolling out within a couple of years....

Today, since everyone is going back to work I thought we’d look at some work vans. But let’s wrap up last week first: Exactly as I expected. I hope the new owner of that Mercedes appreciates the incredible deal they got. Now: They’re big. They’re white. They’re usually laden down with ladders or pipes strapped to roof racks, emblazoned with company logos and phone numbers, and far too often driven with reckless abandon....

The museum describes this particular painted car hood like this: It’s also worth noting that to paint this, Chicago actually studied car painting techniques at an auto body school in LA, which was a pretty male-dominated environment, giving some context to what she said about the work. And, you know, she learned how to really paint cars, like that other famous American painter, Earl Sheib. Chicago did a few of these painted car hoods, but this one in Stockholm is an interesting one to try to guess because it’s one of those hoods that’s harder to place out of context....

I’m not exactly sure what message Ford is intending to convey here about the Fairlane, other than to associate it with the sorts of cavalier bon vivants that can even made a colossal emptiness, void even of light, into a good time with their huge flower gag, pulling off massive, shoe-sized petals in what may be one of those he-loves-me-he-loves-me-not kind of things. I think? Anyway, enjoy the whatever this is!...

Now, I know that a roll-out drivetrain wasn’t invented by Renault – in fact, I wrote about another van that did this with a rear-mounted drivetrain, the White Horse, and that one came out in 1939! But, it was when I saw that picture up there that I started to think about it. So, as you can see, the whole longitudinal FWD drivetrain is an integrated unit up front there, and it just rolls out the front of the Estafette....

This week was supposed to be all Japanese cars, but you know how it goes: If you’re not looking for something, you’ll find it everywhere, but as soon as you start searching, they vanish like the cockroaches in the kitchen of your first apartment. I found plenty of Camrys and Accords, but there’s only so much to be said about those. So today we’ll look at a couple of sporty Japanese numbers, and the rest of the week we’ll look at all the other cool stuff I found that I wasn’t actually looking for....

This week I’m trying to distract myself from buying something with a V12 by looking at an American imported car, a car-turned-pickup truck, and a whole lot of yee haw from a Corvette. Seriously, someone stop me from buying a lifted Corvette. As usual, some of these may be downright asinine or crappy cars. I also don’t discriminate when it comes to pricing, modifications, and condition. If a car is too expensive, at least we can still stare at it, right?...
