As expected, this one was tighter than a pair of American Apparel disco pants, with the three-pedal X-Type just barely taking the lead. I feel like the correct answer here is to buy both and build your own manual X-Type wagon, but that’s probably a lot more time than you’d want to invest in old Coventry tat. Ford has continually struggled with new product launches, including serious problems like malfunctioning trailer brake controllers and EV battery contactor issues popping up here and there. It’s troubling news, but not exactly unexpected if you hold build quality in high regard. On the other hand, when recalls are voluntary, it’s a sign that an automaker is taking the problems seriously and acting to fix them quickly instead of letting them sit—or put customers at risk....

Huh, that’s more lopsided than I expected, given how evenly matched the two trucks are in capability and condition. Did the branded title really scare off that many people? Now, I can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of the Cybertruck‘s low-polygon, rendered-on-a-Super Nintendo-with-the-Super FX-chip look, but I do appreciate that something so unexpected and bold exists. Well, might exist. Sometime late next year, probably. Maybe. That said, you can’t ever really judge a car or truck’s design until you’ve at least encountered it in person, so I was very pleased to finally be next to this big stainless steel beast....

But first, let’s see what you made of our Iowa pickups: I’m not surprised. That 300 six/manual combo is a winning formula every time I put one up. I’m a little torn on this choice myself; I’m a Chevy guy when it comes to trucks, but my own Chevy truck is a full-size with a four-speed stick, so I see the appeal there. I guess if I had to replace my truck, and these were my options, I’d probably go Ford as well....

Lamborghini Teases A Crossover Supercar  When Lamborghini launched the Urus, I was a touch underwhelmed. It just didn’t seem crazy enough for the Italian marque’s image. However, the Urus has shifted a lot of units, which may have got Lamborghini thinking about adding another soft-roader to its lineup....

The Royal Enfield Diesel is the only mass-produced diesel motorcycle built in India and what appears to be just one of a few mass-produced diesel bikes sold to the public in the world. I could not find a production estimate for the Taurus (as it is also called), but Royal Enfield’s website implies that production started in 1993. (Weirdly, some “Indian” motorcycle news sites like DriveSpark state production began in the late 1980s)....

Stellantis The claims of the RAM’s performance as an EV cannot be verified yet, but we will say that one of its supposed ‘industry first’ accomplishments might be suspect. The pioneering feature in question is right in the truck’s description: it purports to be a ‘three row’ pickup truck. We were wondering how Stellantis was able to make space where none appears to exist, and based on photos the answer seems to be that they just plain didn’t....

Yesterday I compared a Pontiac Aztek with a bad transmission to a Chevy Citation with a bad cooling fan. You all decided that the “center console cooler” made the Aztek the better value: Anyway, let’s talk about corrosion. Of all the things I miss about the Midwest, rust is not one of them. I had one car literally break in two from rust (1979 VW Scirocco), one that got too rusty to jack up (1984 Honda Accord), and one that had weeds growing up through the floor when I bought it (1978 Plymouth Volare, bought for $175)....

Let’s cut to the big news, Mazda’s new 3.3-liter turbocharged mild-hybrid inline-six. It makes 340 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque on premium gas, putting it in the same league as lower-output versions of BMW’s lauded B58 inline-six. I’m a huge fan of inline-six engines as their smoothness is incredible, and this particular unit is unlikely to disappoint CX-90 customers who opt for it. However, not everyone wants inline-six power, which is where the seriously impressive e-Skyactiv plug-in hybrid powertrain comes in....

Last time, reader Jason L pointed out a fabulous 1990s Japanese performance car that collectors appear to be overlooking. Launched in 1991, the Nissan Sentra SE-R took what was otherwise a regular economy car and made it something awesome.
