See, the old Honda Civic Type R looked a bit spiky and anti-social with its vortex generators, fender flares, red accenting, and faux-vents conspired to give the outgoing model the same appeal as bondage pants. It was certainly bold, but bold means polarizing here. In contrast, the new car almost looks like regular-ass traffic. Back in 2021, news stations and police in Milwaukee, Wisconsin reported on a strange, yet alarming issue. That year, some 10,479 vehicles were stolen in the city. That number is up from 2020’s statistic of 4,500 thefts. Why did the number of stolen vehicles double in just a year? Thieves, some as young as teenagers, figured out that certain Hyundai and Kia models could be stolen rather quickly. As a result, two-thirds of the vehicles stolen in the Milwaukee in 2021 were Kias and Hyundais....

This generation of Century was released in 2018, and was the first major redesign of the car for over two decades. While it’s easy to go crazy and spec out a loaded Limited model with all the trimmings, the XLE is likely the pick of the range. See, the Mitsubishi Mirage is primarily built in Thailand, and Thai drivers seem to really love the little thing. A small, economical, light car that’s still reasonably practical sounds like just the thing for an entry point to the new car market. Presumably enjoying decent popularity and sales, Mitsubishi dusted off the Ralliart nameplate for this special Thai-market appearance package that’s so kitschy it’s good....

If you know what the Ford Bronco Sport Badlands is then you can guess what the Ford Maverick Tremor has, because they’re similar. Available only on the XLT and Lariat trims with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost motor and AWD, the Tremor adds the baby Bronco Badland’s twin-clutch rear-drive unit with a clutch-based “differential lock” feature that Ford says “can divert virtually all rear axle torque to either wheel.” The Maverick Tremor also gets “Trail Control,” which is Ford’s excellent off-road cruise control system....

Sure, it’s got four wheels, a motor, and some modern conveniences, but underneath, it’s a “car” largely in the sense it can move under its own power. It’s very slow, and can’t go very far, and both Chinese and Western journalists alike have derided its kind of crude design. I mean, it’s a tiny car, only about 10 inches longer than a Smart Fortwo, with a three-link solid axle like what you’d find on a very cheap light truck....

I got the truck and a tow strap, looped one end through her Hyundai’s towing eye and the other around my tow hitch. I got in, put it in the granny gear first, and slowly let off the clutch and on the gas.
